
STAMFORD – September 16, 2025 – Spire Orthopedic Partners is proud to announce the appointments of Dr. Katie Vadasdi and Dr. David Hergan as Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to physician leadership.
Dr. Vadasdi, Sports Medicine Surgeon and Director of the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists, and Dr. Hergan, Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement Surgeon at Middlesex Orthopedic & Spine Associates, will continue to serve as orthopedic surgeons and clinical leaders of their respective practices, both of which are part of the Spire network.
In their new roles, Drs. Vadasdi and Hergan will integrate physician insight into the organization’s strategic decision-making, working closely with clinical and operations teams across all Spire practices. Additionally, they will lead Spire’s practice-level clinical leadership teams, driving engagement and collaboration across the network of practices. Prior to their appointments as Spire CMOs, they were integral to a wide array of initiatives, including strategic growth, physician recruitment, revenue cycle management optimization, and operational efficiency.
Dr. Vadasdi earned her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. She completed a residency in orthopedics at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and fellowship training in shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, Department of Orthopedics. She is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Vadasdi has been honored as a Castle Connolly America’s Top Doctor and Regional Top Doctor annually since 2014. In 2017, she was named among the Exceptional Woman in Medicine by Castle Connolly.

Dr. Hergan earned his medical degree at Chicago Medical School. He completed an orthopedic residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a fellowship in sports medicine, arthroscopy at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Hergan is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a specialty board certification in orthopedic sports medicine. He has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor annually since 2022. He is the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, Director of the Joint Replacement Program and Director of Quality Improvement for Orthopedics at Middlesex Hospital. Dr. Hergan has served as an orthopedic team physician for Wesleyan University since 2010.
